To enhance the time and efficiency of enzyme reactions, it is common to add some additives that have biological actives. For instance: The normal time for biodegradation of bioplastic bags is up to 6 months. The required time for complete decomposition depends on the material, the environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and the decomposition location.
The compostable process is where the material is decomposed to compost, CO2, and water under suitable conditions by burial process. The compostable process is typically faster than biodegradation one. Only in roughly 90 days this process can create nutritious products for soil.

Biodegradation is a decomposition process by microorganisms, in which the material structure is broken down into components under the action of natural microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, etc. Compostation in turn is a process where the material can be completely decomposed in a given period of time and can create compost which is beneficial for soil.
Biodegradation does not specify a time for complete decomposition. Compostation has a fixed complete decomposition time.
